Medolic is the conception of New Zealand born, Brisbane claimed, artist and songwriter Lix Bacskay (pronounced batch-koy).
Tired and uninspired by the righteous removed from the real, Lix draws lyrical pictures incomparable yet not dissimilar to great narrative artists such as Springsteen, Presley, Cash and Mitchell. Influenced by poetic liberators like Buckley, Yorn, Fanning and G. A. Richards, she crafts a-typical stories of her own human-ness with their feet in the everyday and their eyes on an ever changing horizon. The sound itself tip-toes its way between the footsteps of rock and blues revolutionaries, teetering on the edge of the deeper and darker, remembering all the while its country upbringing.
Born in '78, Lix grew up in relative rural isolation and with the perception that to express herself visually and audibly was as obligatory as breathing. While it was the visual arts in which she submersed herself for the first 25 years of her life, it was the music she constantly sought out and fell for that would draw her out of her paintings and into the world.
Ever the linguist and with a sometimes frustrating habit of thinking and speaking in the clumsy poetic, it is only very recently that Lix picked up a guitar and found the key.
Medolic was conceived in 2005, with conscience and without foregone conclusions. Nothing More, an acoustic demo recorded at James North Productions (Brisbane), is already catching the attention of watchful industry eyes. Further studio adventures have commenced, stay tuned.... all will be revealed in the 'soon'.
"well above Bic Runga and co... an amazing future ahead"
Hi there! We're going to be up in Brisbane this Saturday 10th to launch our new album at the X & Y Bar in the Valley. We're onstage at 8:30pm and it's free entry! See you there!
Just here to listen to you my Lixy. I miss you dearly.. but missing in sadness is for the broken. So I miss not for my own desperation and needy humanity, but for your lovely smile that slays my lack of will and draws my lips up into a smile also. Kiss the energy that swrils around the scrapers from the Southbank grass for me?
I found your friend Lesha, the Lesha that's been a little lost lately, she was hiding behind the couch the whole time. I found her as soon as I woke up today. We hung out and went shopping to pamper ourselves and had a wonderful day. You would be proud of me Lix. :)
I can't wait for all this planetary and lunar eclipse energy to go away at the end of this month. So everything can go back to not being so dark feeling and people so weird seeming and so I can stop screaming at deceitful cab drivers as an outlet.
AND SPRING!!! The heart of Spring is my time! It's where it all begins, my recording and story telling. I'm living for this, it's all I'm thinking of!
hey - how are you? got a new song up that i wanted you to hear called "always". listen to it on my profile, and if you like it, put the song up on your page, or buy it on itunes!
