With the band having now returned from Tokyo, the debut Medollic album "Dollhouse" is only weeks away from final mixes. We're looking forward to heading back to Japan to promote the album release next year. News of the album release date will be posted here soon...
Medollic is the conception of New Zealand born, Brisbane claimed, visual artist and songwriter Lix Bacskay (pronounced batch-koy).
Tired and uninspired by the righteous removed from the real, Lix still champions the great narrative artists like Springsteen, Johnny Cash and Joni Mitchell who wrote the soundtrack to her youth. Under the influence of modern lyricists like Jeff Buckley, Alison Sudol, Bernard Fanning, Pete Yorn and G. A. Richards, she crafts a-typical stories of her own human-ness with their feet in the everyday and their eyes on an ever changing horizon. The sound itself tip-toes its way between the footsteps of alt-rock and blues revolutionaries, teetering on the edge of the deeper and darker, remembering all the while its country upbringing.
Medollic began in 2005 as a collection of songs written between small town New Zealand and Australian hotel rooms. In 2006 Lix began the shift to Brisbane Australia, joining forces with multi-instrumentalist producer James North and drummer Steve Pope [Kate Miller-Heidke, Transport, Chris Pickering]. In 2007 the trio began recording their debut album "Dollhouse" at James North Productions. The album is due for release late 2009 / early 2010.
