MEERKAT are a dynamic female duo mixing original acoustic material with eclectic beats and rap. Big sound, eclectic, atmospheric, experimental.
SINCE RECORDING OUR FIRST ALBUM TOGETHER IN 2005, we have been on a creative roller coaster of discovery. With the use of looping technology, and the addition of a cajon, we are adding layers of sounds and instruments into some of our current material, as well as creating fresh material that embraces these very new approaches. Heather has also found her voice, particularly in the form of some thought-provoking, perceptive raps that give Meerkat yet another edge... And that is not all. With the use of loop technology, Heathers improvisational skills on a diverse range of instruments, and Mirandas expressive and vibrant dance skills, Meerkat integrate dance theatre and improvised dance into some of our live sets, where stages permit, and according to promoters preferences.
We perform at concerts, launches, conferences, gigs, festivals, and can often be found on beaches and hillsides doing it for ourselves and anyone who may happen to pass by and want to stop and listen or join in.

What a cover of Ed Alleyne Johnson's concerto piece! That was incredible! Of course, we all knew that Meerkat's original music is amazing in itself since we all know it now! We're all still amazed at the Loopy Station and what you do with it!

Saturday March 17th sees the launch of 'The Zen Lounge' club at Llandeilo Civic Hall. This club will feature live music (Sendelica and Satori) and DJ's.... the club will have a great 60's psyche vibe with projections, oil wheels and light show. This will be the first of many appearances of this club throughout Wales this year. Tickets available in advance from Big Music from Small Nations web site or on the door. Be there.....
