THE FIRST FEMALE ROCK SINGER FROM INDIA
Meeta Gajjar is the vocalist for the dynamic rock band EXOTICA. Formed in the summer of 2008, EXOTICA has completed the recording of their first CD called “Life,” and a video for the song “Sands Of Time.” The CD will be released in 11/2008. The collaboration of Meeta’s lyrics and vocal melodies with the music of multi talented musician and guitarist extraordinaire Cole Hoover has proven to be the chemistry of destiny. Their music is diverse enough to captivate a wide range of audience and strong enough to be memorable and leave them wanting for more. Check out the band’s myspace at www.myspace.com/theexoticaband
Previously, in Feb. of 2008, while in India, Meeta recorded "Shanti Dhun,” a CD of traditional Indian chants. Retaining the talents of local Indian musicians, Meeta embellished these ancient chants with her modern day sound and mellifluous vocal style to produce a unique and refreshing experience. Born and raised in the United States by parents who were born and raised in India, Meeta grew up singing these chants while pursuing a career in western music. The Cd can be previewed and purchased on www.CDbaby.com and www.Amazon.com.
Meeta’s other solo recording artist projects include two CD’s with the dance band “Final Approach.” The most recent one “Assigned Risk” in 2005, which she co-wrote several of the songs with Walt Koziar also available on www.cdbaby.com.
In 2004 Meeta recorded a Jazz CD called “What Would I do?” The music of Dana Robinson gives a combined feel of Light Jazz, Broadway and Easy Listening. The cd can be previewed and purchased on www.cdbaby.com
Meeta’s live performances span a range from singing the National Anthem for the 76’ers to singing in sequenced duos, trios, 10 piece wedding/corporate bands and a wide variety of Rock, Pop, R & B, and Original Bands. In high school she toured Europe as the lead vocalist of the American Youth Jazz Band.
When Meeta was 12, she appeared on Dancing on Air which you can see the video of below.
