Big Scary Monsters Records has decided to team up with some of it's favourite and some of it's friendliest labels from around the world to begin 'Meet and Greet', an informal series of 7" singles.
Believing strongly in the 'working together' rather than 'competing against' ethic, BSM wanted to team up with some of the world's finest independent record labels, pooling resources and musical taste to bring you, dear listener, the finest in up and coming music. Each single co-released between BSM and one other record label will be special, and very different to the previous. Some of the releases will feature two tracks from one band, some will be splits between two (or maybe even more) bands, some will be with UK labels, others with labels from around the world, the styles of music will vary, the type of packaging will change, everything is subject to differ. The only thing you can really be sure of is the quality of music enclosed.
'Meet and Greet' launches on 12th November with the debut single from Cardiff based rockers The New 1920, co-released with old friend Sam Duckworth (AKA Get Cape Wear Cape Fly) and his Mannequin Republic label. Released on 7" and limited edition CD - not available in shops - the band will be announcing tour dates very soon.
This release will be closely followed by the new single, 'Sideways' from Sam Isaac. This time co-released with BSM's own sister label, Alcopop!, again available on CD and 7", the single will see the light of day on 10th December, proceeded by Sam's appearance at the BBC Electric Proms and the In The City event up in Manchester. All copies of the single will contain a password offering free access to a secret website filled with exclusive recordings, videos and more.
In 2008 we'll be releasing the debut single from Tubelord, with Irish label Popular Records, and have many more already lined up. More news on those very soon.
