The power trio known as Megalopolis began life as "APE" back in the mid-90s. After some false starts and personnel changes, the lineup solidified in January of 1997 and immediately began gigging around Boston, wowing audiences everywhere with their unusual riffs, tight arrangements, and high energy performances.
In mid-1998, the band was forced to change its name, and it became "Megalopolis".
Throughout 1998, Megalopolis continued to play many shows, while also working on a full-length CD (unreleased to this day).
By the spring of 1999, the band had wowed audiences all over Boston and beyond. Unfortunately, logistical problems eventually caused a split and Megalopolis played its final show at O'Brien's Pub in Allston, MA on 03/05/99.
A new chapter has begun as of October 2009. Videos and recordings both new and old will be forthcoming, and live shows are being planned for 2010. Stay tuned...
In the meantime, enjoy these recently unearthed live recordings from the band's halcyon days!
