BOTMM 2010 - JANUARY 22ND @ CHOP SUEY - SEATTLE Hello everyone! It has come down from Rane that in order to sponsor us from here on out it would make the most since to open the Battle up to all formats including digital. We have been thinking about this over the last few years and it makes more and more since to us as well. It is a huge transition but it will prove to be both entertaining and challenging for the audience and competitors. This Battle is and always has been about the MEGAMIX and it's entertainment value - not necessarily about the format. Anyone interested in competing in the 2010 Battle of the MegaMix is encouraged to email me asap (travis.baron@gmail.com) with your affiliation, short bio, link to mix or website and your preferred DJ set up. We will announce the chosen few Dec 22 one month before the event. That will give contestants one month to work out sets. OK, so here is the deal: This is not a laptop battle! This is not a Remix contest! You can only use 2 channels. And only 2 tracks at a time. More than 2 tracks and your disqualified. Pre-mashed up mixes are also a no-no. Formats excepted for The 2010 BOTMM Competition: 2 Channel Digital file format Dj mixing programs (Traktor, Serato, Torq,) Vinyl CD We will provide Rane Mixers, Pioner CDjs and Technics Turntables. Any controllers are excepted. Yes, it will be complicated but we got it covered. Judging will be slightly different this year with the the addition of other DJ formats. More on that later. Most of the rules are the same as years past. In order to compete you must have prepared 2 different 10 min mixes. The Judges of the First round will eliminate all but 2 contestants. The winners of the preliminary round goes on to preform their second set and the winner of the 2010 BOTMM will be determined by audience appreciation. As usual we will have a big grand prize trophy Provided by RANE, Details on that later. The Competition will take place at Chop Suey, January 22nd 2010. ONE BIG THING You have to be able available for sound check as early as 6pm Jan 22nd at Chop Suey and no gear can be removed from the stage after the battle starts up until the first round is over.
