Artist Information
Biography
Writing and performing since the age of twelve, Megan Lane intrigues her audience everywhere she plays. Her style fuses passionate, rich vocals with gut wrenching guitar playing. Her performance is intoxicating, unique, and truly unforgettable.
In 2004, she released a self-produced CD 'Purple and Blue'. The Western Canadian Music Awards nominated this album for “Outstanding Blues Recording”. Her follow-up release 'Wrapped in Plastic' is difficult to classify but is musically and lyrically relatable blues/rock. Baring her experiences, this artist is much more than a singer/songwriter, she’s a woman who crosses boundaries and labels. This young, old soul performs with true honesty and enthusiasm that penetrates hearts and leaves a lasting impression.
This spring Lane will release her third album. The demo tracks available on Sonic Bids are pre-production recordings for her forthcoming album 'Bow and Drill the Spark' (working title).

Media Quotes
v “ As her fingers light up across the fret board, a colossal sound escapes from her amplifier, sailing throughout the crowd and straight out the front door . . . People passing by outside hear the wailing music and glance at the marquee as they pass, to see who’s kicking up the impressive blues-rock fuss.” – Craig Silliphant, Planet S
v “. . . she has talent, passion and stage presence of a woman well beyond her years. . . Lane and her band continually rocked the packed bar. . . Lane often reminded me of a younger, modern-day Janis Joplin" - Shannon Boklaschuk, The StarPhoenix
v “ Petite in stature at 5’4”, gentle blue eyes, youthfully mature and philosophically poetic in very word . . . this is Megan Lane” – Alyssa Ingold, The Session
v “To say Lane looks comfortable on stage is an understatement. . . .she performs with confidence musicians twice her age would kill for.” – Nichole Huck, The Carillon
v “. . . categorizing her and her band seems wrong because they seem to have no limits to where their music can go. . . Megan’s fingers move on the strings like friction is non-existent and the only way to tell she is putting effort into playing is by the distortion of her face and her body twisting as the emotion of the music takes over” – Crystal Clark, The Sheaf
