Biography
Meganoidi formed in 1997. Initially the band was made up of just four elements -voice, bass, guitar and drums. This line-up was fleshed out with the arrival of the trumpet and saxophone players who joined shortly after. Coming from a place where there was limited opportunity to play live, most of the support they received came from the social centres of Genoa, the likes of TDN and Zapata, where they played their first gigs.
In 1998 they released their first Ep "Supereroi Vs Municipale". It was independently produced and contained 5 tracks: 4 in Italian and 1in English.
It was well received by the public and eventually sold out. As a result Meganoidi found themselves playing alongside recognised national and international bands within the year.
During Spring 2000 Meganoidi recorded their debut Lp "Into The Darkness, Into The Moda", which was released under Riot Records in the Autumn of that year.
The first 1,000 copies of their album sold out almost immediately and in March 2001 the band decided to produce their own video called "Meganoidi" under the direction of Lorenzo Vignolo.
In June of 2001 "Into The Darkness, Into The Moda" was re - released by Venus distributions and in the space of one week it had already sold 4,000 copies. The video was played in heavy rotation on MTV and this exposure led to Meganoidis first official gigs and tour of more than 30 dates during that summer period.
In September of 2001 they released a second single with accompanying video "Supereroi" from the same album.
In the summer of 2002 Meganoidi had the opportunity to play some of the most important national dates on the calendar- The Heineken Jamming Festival, Independent Day Festival and MTV day.
In October of the same year after a lengthy tour which had lasted a year and a half and with nearly 50,000 copies sold, they decided to take a break and to dedicate their time to the production of a new album .
The new album entitled "Outside The Loop, Stupendo Sensation" was released in June of 2003. Since it was produced independently it allowed Meganoidi the autonomy to sell the album at the politically correct price of 13,00 euro. The album was the fruit of 6 months labour which took place in their own recording studio, Zerodieci recording studio, Genoa.
The quality of the overall production of the album was enhanced when Meganoidi called upon the expertise of Vic Florentia who had already collaborated with band such as Danko Jonesl. Working at the Iguana studio in Toronto, Canada, he mixed all 12 tracks on the album.
Mastered at The Classic Sound in New York by Joe Lambert, "Outside The Loop" was presented live for the first time on the 4th of June 2003 in Genoa, 2 days before the official launch of the album in the shops.
"For those who lie awake (Lets Go!)" was chosen by the group to promote the launching of the album ,the video for which was directed by Stefano Bozzetta.
Meganoidi hit the live scene again and started on their second major tour, the "Stupendo Tour" which reached the far corners of Italy and included an inaugural tour of Holland and Japan. The winter of 2003 saw the release of the single and video "Zeta Reticoli". This gave the band the push they had been waiting for and brought them to new heights. They've recently been named as one of the greatest indie rock Italian bands of the moment.
The video "Zeta Reticoli" has remained on continuous rotation for over 5 months and is one of the most requested videos on MTV. At present, the band are busy working on a new video for the track "Inside The Loop" which will be released early June 2004.

Ciao, bel concerto a Schio, peccato che più della metà della gente pensava faceste ancora ska ed era venuta a sentirvi per ballicchiare un pò xD. Saranno rimasti delusi, oppure piacevolmente sorpresi, ma di sicuro chi vi conosceva ed ha seguito il vostro percorso musicale è stato pienamente soddisfatto =)
