"Like the murderous rabbit from 'Monty Python and the Holy Grail', San Franciscan acoustic folk-rock troubadour Megan Slankard has a cute, wouldn't-hurt-a-fly appearance that gives little indication of the power she commands. Rather than maiming with claw and fang, though, she kills the listener softly with her feartfelt lyrics, her bold, radio-ready voice and her memorable chart-wooing melodies." [Metro Santa Cruz, 2007]
“Slankard’s vocal style is so distinctive that simply naming influences (Ani DiFranco, Alanis Morissette) doesn’t do it justice. Her vocal melodies are immediately arresting, she uses hip-hop phrasing and whisper-to-roar dynamics like a pro, and she never lets her impeccable technique eclipse the emotion she pours into her performances.” [Acoustic Guitar Magazine]
"It's a good sign when the first three songs of a record have you wondering 'why haven't I heard of [the Megan Slankard Band] before?' Slankard's vocal style is so distinctive that simply naming influences (Ani DiFranco, Alanis Morissette) doesn't do it justice. Her vocal melodies are immediately arresting, she uses hip-hop phrasing and whisper-to-roar dynamics like a pro, and she never lets her impeccable technique eclipse the emotion she pours into her performances."
[Drew Pearce, Acoustic Guitar Magazine]
"Slankard has a knack for getting the max out of what would seem to be modest resources, putting together a tight little bandwriting a brace of vibrant songs, taking them into a local studioand coming out withan album that holds it own against the 'real' records pros made. Spin Freaky Little Story and you'll hear singing and lyricism reminiscent of the young Joni Mitchell while also picking up the intermingled vulnerability and attitude that characterized Chrissie Hynde when she exploded onto the scene."
[TAXI, The Navigator]
"I really like [Megan Slankard's Freaky Little Story]... I have a feeling something's going to happen with her." [Rob Hotchkiss (founding member of Train)]
She could make the OED [Oxford English Dictionary] sound melodious. [Good Times Magazine]
Megan! Thank you for being part of Bazaar-Stock!!! You rocked it and really brought in a lovely group of people...as usual! I am very greatful for knowing you and your music! See you soon, kc
It was such a pleasure to meet you last night. You were so great, and you inspired me to pick up my guitar and jump in with both feet. I am a fan for life!
Hey yous! Hello Megan...I'm listening to 'Dirty Wings'@ this moment on I-Tunes...I was going through random stuff that I had not seen in a long time. Then I came across all the photos I took of you from when you first played @ Borders was the 1st time I saw or heard you...it's like WoW! I think you were like 16 aprox. I new right then that you had so much potential and that you would become very successful. See, I played rhythm guitar in an all female band when I was like 15 to early twenties, then I just took another road that didn't include 5 hours a day of practicing, writing, playing, practicing...I have always been into the harder genre like back then bands such as SLAYER, PUNK, TESTAMENT, a few excellent few songs from most genres of music. I'll get to the point, that first time I saw u play you appeared very shy, and looked at the floor a lot when u played...Then as I would come to your shows as much as I could I would see growth and confidence and eye contact! That really rawked...Oh yeah, back to those photos I have stacks of so many shows from way back; hence, I mean a lot of photos...Converse and a long braid with jeans...I left you a long comment just strolling down memory lane...I miss you playing like back then. Yet, so HAPPY how you have grown, just like I knew that first time @ Borders...High Five Megan you are one of the few in your music genre that I dug and not one song on any of you cd's did you have to skip!!! Take Care, RaVeNX

Hey Megan! I'd like to ask a favor... can you please upload 'My Hallelujah'? I think that song is absolutely beautiful and I'd love to have it on my profile :)
