Megan Upchurch is a freelance harpist and vocalist, based out of Muncie, IN. She began her journey in music at a young age when she started taking piano lessons. In addition to her perpetual love for singing, Megan has tried her talents with many instruments until she found her true love: the harp. Ever since she has discovered this inspiring instrument, she has been playing as often and in as many venues as possible. Although she has performed with the Ball State Symphony Orchestra, the Muncie Symphony Orchestra, and the Marion Philharmonic, she goes beyond the restrictions of the symphony hall and out into the streets of Muncie. Megan can be found performing anywhere from the Renaissance Faire to the local Farmer's Market; or from an elegant Minnetrista event, to the local drum circle in downtown Muncie. She wants to share the harp with everyone she meets, especially those that have never seen a live harp performance before! Megan has had the privilege of studying harp at Ball State with the distinguished Elizabeth Richter. She has also studied voice at Ball State with the international performer Dr. Mei Zhong.
Megan performs many styles of music. Although she is classically trained, her love is Celtic music, and along with performing traditional pieces and the works of her favorite composers, she also arranges traditional Celtic tunes, and composes music in the Celtic style. Megan is available for all types of events, including weddings, receptions, ceremonies, festivals, faires, dinners, special events, lessons, and much, much more! Although she is based out of Muncie, Indiana, she continues to perform in many surrounding areas, and is hoping to perform beyond! Megan hopes to continue to broaden her list of repertoire and compositions, as well as her performance destinations and venues, and she hopes to see you at her next event! ......................................................................................................................................................................................................................
