Somewhere between the angels of heaven and the devil himself lies the mind and songs of Santa Barbara singer/songwriter Meghan Lehman. At a glance, Meghan perfectly fits the part of the sweet-voiced, sun-bleached California chick strumming her guitar and singing pretty songs. But a closer look reveals surprisingly witty, layered, often acerbic songs that indicate a far fuller musical personality than most of her peers can muster. Blending a timeless, old-fashioned style with utterly modern, sometimes ribald subject matter and lyrics, Lehman is an oddity among the armies of acoustic-guitar wielding songstresses, at times earnest or whimsical or sneering or all of the above in a single verse. Known for her lilting, beautiful voice and disarmingly honest songs, it's no wonder Lehman's audience is quickly expanding beyond her Southern California home.
