Meiakira is a solo project aimed towards combining my classical training with my not entirely classical tastes in music. I've been studying violin since I was 6 1/2 and am a music major in violin performance (beginning college fall 2008).
The story behind the name: I am half Japanese, and the name on my Japanese passport is different from the name I go by on a regular basis here in America. My first name is "Mei," and can potentially be written with a character that can also be read as the male name, "Akira."
Thanks. I'm about to have more stuff up soon. The next one is going to be a blend of very syncopated rock and Chinese traditional music.
As for college: Maryland (accepted), Penn State (accepted), Illinois (accepted), James Madison (accepted), Berklee (pending), Carnegie Mellon (pending). I'm applying as a music composition major.
I'm good. I've been working on a lot of music...biting off more than I can chew.
How bout you? Going to any colleges?
I like your music. It's very different. I especially like the last 2 tunes. In "Peripheral" near the end, it reminds me of that arpeggio section in Bach's Chaconne in Dm.
