meikyo ist japanisch und bedeutet "klarer Spiegel". Zwischen Alternativen und Emotionalem pendeln wir Vier in ganzer Bandbreite. Stets ohne Rast, ruhen wir in uns. Anfangs leer und unbeschrieben, wie der klare Spiegel, verwandelt sich tabula rasa in tohuwabohu. Immer unterwegs auf Reisen durch die Welten moderner Musik. Mal rockig, mal schnulzig, dann wieder experimentell in mancher Hinsicht, jedoch nie ohne Hintertürchen und mit einer kleinen Prise Dreck.
meikyo – das ist neu – das ist tief – das ist düster – das ist grell – das ist eine band, erscheinend, verschwimmend vor einem spiegel – immer wieder muss das bild neugemalt werden – die emotion liefert den rahmen – alles neu – von song zu song – was bleibt, sind vier charaktere mit ihrer singulären interpretation dieses gefühls – puzzleteile, die das ganze ergeben: pop, soul, nujazz, x, y: meikyo

meikyo (japanese for clear/empty mirror) is an extraordinary funk-pop combo from leipzig, germany. the music combines influences from the whole entertainment music, such as funk, soul, hiphop, nu-jazz and acid jazz. tina slotta is singing powerfully about personal situations, funny and sad. pianist sören hoppe throws jazzy chords and funky melodies counter-cross-hatched by the rhythmic statements of the rhythm section noah punkt (bass) and andré böske.
meikyo has released three cd's yet: two ep's and in 2009 the debut album citylights.
