My name is Meilir, born February 27, 1981 I grew up in a small town in North Wales called Caerwys.
Music has played a big role in my life. I have sung & played musical instruments since a very young age. I once played music in a band called Manchuko. The highlight of the time Manchuko spent together was a tour with Damo Suzuki formerly of Can. In late 2005 Manchuko fell into a deep slumber… nobody knows if it will ever be awoken.
At the moment I live in the city of Cardiff. I like trees.
I play a little piano, guitar, sing & create other noises; from these sources I make music. For the past year I have been writing & recording songs in a small studio in the basement of my house. I write music because I love music, I can be moved by a melody or song in a way that nothing else can touch me, I wish to recreate and pass on this feeling. The lyrics I write are in Welsh & English. I write Melody driven songs with experimental elements & unconventional instumentation.
I like & listen to the music of so many people it is impossible to mention them all but I draw influence from Tom Waits, Hoagay Charmicheal, Wilco, Bjork, Radiohead, Can, Talking Heads, The Band, Johnny Cash, Neil Young & Tim Buckley.
On occasion I like to drink bourbon, but I also like tequila. I have a tendency to smoke too much, & am very fond of Owls; I have a collection that exceeds a hundred. I like to dress smartly but look a mess & can be lazy from time to time.
