Growing up in Albany, Georgia, under the influence of the hot southern sun and tranquil southern moon, amidst old pecan plantations, spanish moss, whispering pines, cotton fields, peanuts, watermelon patches, cold water springs, and snake infested swamps, Matt Evan Johnson (MEJ) inherited the intoxicating-spirit of southern life, family, friends, and great southern music!
Early in life, MEJ caught his southern music fever, and was developed under the influence of authentic southern music, from country, rhythm and blues, to kickin' southern-rock, to get-down' southern-gospel music. From age 7, he was formally trained on symphonic-trumpet and jazz-guitar. At age 18, he found his voice and his bass-guitar, and has been performing as a vocalist/bass-guitarist in numerous southern bands, from then to now.
MEJ delivers captivating live performances with southern style, grace, and powerful emotion! He stays true to his southern roots music, which he considers a true southern art.

Atlanta, Georgia, December 23, 2008 - Matt Evan Johnson, an Atlanta-based Country Music Artist, singer, songwriter, musician, has signed with Frank French, Producer, Frank French Recording & Publishing, BMI, to produce Matt's self-titled debut-CD, scheduled for release in the Fall of 2009. Matt is a life-long Georgia professional musician, who has been performing in the regional music scene, and behind the scenes, for more than two decades. He is a gifted and talented southern musician and songwriter, who Frank French describes as "Alternative Country". Matt has also signed with Frank French Publishing BMI, as a songwriter and session musician. Frank French's producing credits include the major-Atlanta acts Drivin-n-Cryin and Indigo Girls, among many others.
