Please call the Henderson, Nevada police at 702-267-5000 if you have any information.
Melanie has been missing since 3/2/07 from the Las Vegas Wash area at Pabco/Sunset. She was last seen with Joe Lopez. Foul play is not suspected at this time (by the police). The hope is that she made it out of the wash and is safe; the fear is that she may have drowned.
Melanie has 3 daughters who are missing her very much.
On 3/13/07 Melanie's brother Justin was hit by a car and killed.
2 tragedies in 2 weeks-incomprehensible.

Newspaper Article:
Henderson police are searching the Las Vegas Wash for missing woman. Melanie Sutton, 33, was last seen with her boyfriend near the wash, which leads into Lake Las Vegas. This is a very remote area deep in the desert. The boyfriend believes Sutton fell in the water. Police believe she also went in the water, but her family is convinced she is the victim of a crime. The missing mother was last seen early Friday morning. There are so many questions, few answers and there's still no sign of her.Shana Sutton, Melanie's sister, said, "I was hoping I would not have to talk to her daughters, telling them they may not see their mom again." Jerry Sutton rushed to Henderson from Texas when he got word his daughter was missing. The last four days have been one emotional ride. "Sadness, confusion and not knowing," he said.Henderson police spent the weekend and Monday searching the banks of the Las Vegas Wash on foot and from the air. Police spokesman Keith Paul said, "There is no crime. She either fell into the water or she went into the water on her own volition, as far as we can tell. We have no instances of foul play."Detectives questioned Melanie's boyfriend, Joe Lopez. He was the last one with Melanie. Jerry Sutton said, "I wouldn't leave anyone out there at three in the morning;" Police found no wrongdoing and Lopez says he did all he could. That's little comfort for the Suttons. "I wouldn't take my dog out there and leave my dog. I would at least look for my dog and bring my dog back. This is a human being. This is a person of God;" Jerry Sutton said. The Suttons are holding out hope this week won't end in tragedy. Police will continue to search. The family will also continue to look along the wash and through the desert.
(NOTE: Joe Lopez didn't report Melanie missing until 1130 am that day--he had a cell phone.Melanie's clothing were found at the Wash and her belt was broken--allegedly, Joe admits to breaking her belt as they got into a quarrel.Lopez passed a polygraph test--that was done about 2 months later)

Sometimes the paths we take are long and hard, but remember: those are always the ones that lead to the most beautiful views.
Challenges come along inevitably: how you respond to them determines who you are - deep down inside - and everything you're going to be.
Increase the chances of reaching your goals by working at them gradually. The very best you can do is all that is asked of you.
Realize that you are capable of working miracles of your own making. Remember that opportunities have a reason for knocking on your door, and the right ones are there for the taking.
You don't always have to win, but you do need to know what it takes to be a winner.
It's up to you to find the key that unlocks the door to a more fulfilling life.
Understand that increased difficulty brings you nearer to the truth of how to survive it - and get beyond it.
Cross your bridges.
Meet your challenges.
Reach out for your dreams, and bring them closer and closer to your heart.
Get rid of the "if only's" and get on with whatever you need to do to get things right.
Go after what you want in life, with all the blessings of all the people who care about you. And find out what making your wishes come true really feels like
