Some say she has her own unique sound and style...you decide!!
Rising up as one of Canada’s highest charting independent female artists of 2006, this “queen of hearts” shows no sign of slowing down. With her remake of that classic Juice Newton tune, Melanie received her first Top 10 Hit and second CMT music video.
The album “Time Flies” is filled with songs written by some of the industry’s best including Steve Fox, Cyril Rawson, Dean McTaggart and Denny Carr – not to mention Melanie herself! Recording took place at Bart McKay’s studio in Saskatoon with two album cuts mixed by Kevin Churko. Royalty Records believed in Melanie and “Time Flies” and she has been part of the team since 2003.
The album and debut videos have been supported not only through media but through Melanie’s ongoing performances including across-the-border shows. Her live appearances whether solo, acoustic, or with her band have earned Melanie a substantial and loyal following. Influenced by legends such as Patsy Cline and Crystal Gayle, Melanie demonstrates strength and style in her vocal ability and will keep you listening for more.
Since the ride began Melanie has been awarded with recognizable achievements. Such achievements include 2 Saskatchewan Country Music Association Female Vocalist awards, a Saskatchewan Country Music Association Entertainer of the Year award, GX94 award winner, Honourable Mention for a co-written tune “All The Night Through” in the John Lennon Songwriting contest and Top Duo Vocal Performance in the BCCMA contest for that same tune with fellow artist Dean Kush.
One of Melanie’s biggest stepping stones of recognition in Canada was the nomination she received for a Canadian Radio Music Award for Best New Country Group or Solo Artist by the Canadian Association of Broadcasters. That nomination was testimony to the respect and support that Melanie continues to receive from Canadian radio.
