Melanie's sound is remniscent of the 60's New York coffee house scene where acoustic guitars and lyric driven songs were rampant. The questions on everyone's lips was: "Did she/he have anything to say?" Melanie does. Her music is deep and moving, sometimes thought provoking sometimes life changing. Always toe tapable.
Born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Melanie grew up and learned to love the
sky the same way her biggest influence: Joni Mitchell did. Melanie moved to Toronto to persue a career in acting and was surprised when before she left her father handed her a cherry red 2nd hand acoustic Gibson guitar to take with her on her travels. She was even more surprised to find herself writing songs on it. The song that started it all "Butterfly" was written after her father passed away. In this song she tries to express her longing for freedom from the fear and pain the grieving process brings.
Melanie now lives in "the Beach" enjoying a healthy acting career and a blossoming music career. You can find her the first Saturday of every month hosting the popular Girls Girls Girls showcase at the Cameron House in Toronto. You can find her the second Saturday of every month performing her original music at the classy Liberty Bistro. This summer Melanie and her stable of talented musicians are in studio recording her debut EP After The Fall.
