Having formed in 2006 to lend support to Wild Billy Childish in Whelans Dublin, they then took some time off, to write some new material and enjoy the passing of time. Now Melba are back, with a selection of new songs that will break your heart – and then make it all better.
Eileen started off singing with the Would Be’s, much admired by John Peel and Morrissey, who named them as his favourite band and featured them as support on a European tour. She has since appeared on two albums released by The Revenants (formed by Steven Ryan after the Stars of Heaven ceased trading), and has also sung with $1,000 wedding on occasion.
Showing Eileen’s lyrical skills and her gift for melody, Melba’s songs are now ready to be heard. We should all be glad to have Eileen singing and playing again. To quote:
'One of the loveliest voices in Irish music back at last in action'. Tom Dunne Today FM
“Eileen Gogan’s voice and her execution of a song is second to none…” NME
“A beautiful voice, singing brilliant and enchanting songs.” John.T Davis.
