Melbourne Slam is a regular open stage Poetry/Spoken Word competition in Melbourne Australia.
Each heat is on approx once a Month at Blue Velvet Bar

RULES
- Each heat consists of three rounds,
- Each performer is to read one piece per round.
- If the piece goes for more than 3min then they will lose points.
- Not all performers make it to the next round.
- Audience participation is crucial to the judging process.
- The winner of the third round gets a $50 cash prize, and is eligible to enter the grand final.
- All competitors, including previous winners, can compete again each heat throughout the year.
PRIZES!!
- The winning performer at each heat recieves a $50 cash prize.
- Each heat leads to the annual final with a building cash prize pool that's currently over $250

- The next heat is on 31st July.
- Best come and register your name by 8pm if you wish to compete as promptness will give you extra points for professionalism.
