I don't listen to artists that have a style too similar to my own so that I avoid being too influenced by them. It's never good to sound too much like anyone! I listen to Modest Mouse, Wilco, Muse, The Flaming Lips, Man Man, Cold War Kids, The Bravery, Straylight Run, The Zutons, Gwen Mars, The Gourds, Marc Broussard, Soul Asylum, Franz Ferdinand, John Legend, Wolfmother, etc..... And I just hope that some of their musical genuis rubs off on me!

My name is Melinda and I'm a singer/songwriter from NJ. For me, music is all about the emotion. Songs should make you FEEL something. That's my goal when I write songs.... to make someone else understand and feel what I'm feeling. So take a few minutes and listen to some of my songs and hopefully they will make you feel something other than wanting to turn them off :)

Hey Melinda, Happy Spring! If you make it to the city on Wed., my duo will be doing a two-hour show at a nice Italian restaurant downtown--Via Della Pace. We start at 8PM, we would not mind has a guest artist or two (all acoustic)-- do a couple of their songs during our break. So let me know if you want join us..
