Melinda became a professional singer in 2000 and having led her own Quartet since 2002, she knows what she likes and her audience appreciation has been borne from entertaining at many prestigious venues and festivals, including The Ritz, The 100 Club, The Sands, Gainsborough, The Stables Theatre, Wavendon and many more UK Theatres.
She has performed with some of the true greats of British Jazz, including John Dankworth, Kenny Ball, Roy Williams and of course her father Terry.
Since 2005 she has also featured with Terry Lightfoot’s Jazzmen on the UK theatre and festival circuit in Terry’s popular concert series ‘The Special Magic of Louis Armstrong.’
In 2006 she collaborated with Terry and recorded her debut album ‘Hit Me With A Hot Note’, a selection of her favourite songs from the 40’s and 50’s and a few latter day greats..
“Hit Me With A Hot Note, Very Good!” - Michael Parkinson BBC Radio 2.
“a very enjoyable cd, equipped with inborn Jazz know-how, plenty of bounce and poignancy”
Humphrey Lyttelton – The Best of Jazz – BBC Radio 2
“Congratulations on producing such a fabulous album” – Gloria Hunniford
2007 will see Melinda firmly establishing herself on the British Jazz scene when she 'kicks off' her new show 'Hit Me With A Hot Note' with Terry Lightfoot's Hot Notes.

My fault - pranged on gatepost at works carpark. Went into garage on Monday, hoped to have it back today but just found out they have only just started on it. Can't now get to work on Monday. Hopefully it should be delivered back to me in time to get into work on Tuesday....... Just so annoying. Will be upgrading insurance to include courtesy car in future - never needed one in 26 yrs!! Ryan is off to Download in June.....not sure how I feel about that one!!!! I was counting on him having exams and being able to say "no" but they finish the previous Wednesday so I had no excuse!!!!!!
"At last a follow up to Janette Mason's sparkling debut as leader. Alien Left Hand ....was well worth the wait…” Production **** Performance**** -- BBC Music Magazine
“…an album fizzing with fresh ideas and delights, an exhilarating musical journey .. with brilliantly original writing and inspired playing…” -- Helen Mayhew
"Every track from the rhythmic ‘NY Cab Ride’ and restless ‘4 Wheel Drive’ to the brooding ‘Mae’s Song’ has a terrific hook but it’s the way Mason switches tempo and moods that makes ALH great fun. " -- Diva Magazine
Hi Melinda, A Very Happy New Year to you too!! Glad you like the photos.. Pete Morgan is my No1 Bass, and the flowery shirt was an achievement!! Will of course send him your regards. All the BEST... Avax
Yes, weather was just right for us - much better than here that's for sure!! We are fine, Aaron has been off school with a bad cough/ear infection but he should be back Friday. I had my 2nd night at Darryl's last week - bit of a mix up with our seats so we ended up still seeing performance with a good view AND getting a full refund - if only Mr P hadn't of sneaked out of a different exit it would have been a wonderful night. You should go when it goes to Milton Keynes - you would really love it. Meant to send you a post to wish you a Happy Anniversay for last Sunday but it slipped my mind every time I was in front of PC!! Ryan has mocks next week. He wants to go to a signing at a music store on Saturday to see the Slipknot drummer -?? - apparantly they always wear masks so I suppose it could be anybody sat there and we'd be none the wiser!!! He wants a cymbal for Xmas so that will kill two birds. Anyway take care xx
