Melissa Errico is one of Broadway’s most cherished young leading ladies, as well as a blooming recording artist and songwriter. She released one of her two recent albums, the first being a pop-jazz lullaby cd produced by Rob Mathes called LULLABIES AND WILDFLOWERS- on Mothers Day 2008 on Velour/Universal- which was featured on Martha Stewart Living and received rave reviews. The other is the upcoming and highly-anticipated THE SUMMER KNOWS produced by Phil Ramone, with Melissa singing Michel Legrand with Michel himself conducting and arranging a 100-piece pop symphony, including a new song he wrote for her. She was nominated for the Best Leading Actress Tony Award for her work in Michel Legrand’s AMOUR, and has been recognized with the Lucille Lortel Award, five Drama Desk nominations, 2 Helen Hayes Awards, and 4 Outer Critics Award nominations and two Drama League Honors. In recent years, she has solidified her reputation as a great interpreter of the classic musicals of all times, as she turned a small New York production of FINIANS RAINBOW into a runaway hit, winning accolades such as "the voice of enchantment" (NY TIMES), and went on to star in quick succession in MY FAIR LADY, CAMELOT and THE SOUND OF MUSIC at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles to sold-out audiences of 20,000 people per night. Her co-stars were the likes of John Lithgow, Roger Daltrey, Jeremy Irons, Rosemary Harris, Marni Nixon- and the critics were captivated by all. Since working with her musical-idol Michel Legrand in 2003 on the Broadway musical AMOUR (for which she was nominated for the top awards including the Tony for "Best Leading Actress"), she and Michel have appeared together informally at such jazz clubs as Dizzy's at Lincoln Center, Vibrato in LA, and New York's Oak Room and Joe's Pub. Her studio album with him, "The Summer Knows," (upcoming release TBA) is a thrilling and romantic ballads album produced by the legendary Phil Ramone, inspired by the strings recordings of Shirley Horn, with symphony conducted and arranged by Michel Legrand, and featuring Oscar-winning hits and new material written for her including a new song and new verse to the famous "You Must Believe In Spring." She has performed some of this material with The National Symphony Orchestra conducted by Marvin Hamlisch in a program called “Salute to The Silver Screen” at the Kennedy Center, and performed in various concerts as a soloist at Avery Fisher, Wolftrap, City Center, The Allen Room, Town Hall and Disney Concert Hall. She burst upon the Broadway scene at just 18 years old, starring as Cosette in LES MISERABLES, quickly followed by a star-turn as Kitty in ANNA KARENINA, and then, at age 22, to raves as Eliza Doolittle in the Broadway revival of MY FAIR LADY. Melissa went on to star on Broadway in HIGH SOCIETY, AMOUR and DRACULA, while also juggling work on television and film, most notably as one of the lead characters on CBS’ “Central Park West” and in the movies “Frequency” and “Life Or Something Like It” opposite Angelina Jolie. In 2006, she appeared on "Six Degrees" on ABC. Melissa was selected by Stephen Sondheim to star as Dot/Marie in SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE at the Kennedy Center, and co-starred in the recent hit revival of Wally Shawn’s political play AUNT DAN AND LEMON with Lili Taylor. She is a member of the Irish Repertory Theatre where she has enjoyed great success starring in MAJOR BARBARA, THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST and FINIANS RAINBOW. Her work at City Center in Kurt Weill’s ONE TOUCH OF VENUS brought her the reviews of a lifetime, and many top awards. Her first album was “Blue Like That” on Capitol Records EMI, produced by Arif Mardin, and critics praised it, calling it "gorgeous" (NY TIMES) and "seductive, smart and sexy. Melissa is a singer with talent, taste and imagination" (Washington Post), placing her as a part of a growing genre of jazz-inflected pop music- for a voice both classic and modern. Melissa lives in Manhattan with her husband Patrick McEnroe and their 3 daughters Victoria, Diana and Juliette (newborn twins). She appeared in a smash solo debut engagement at Birdland on December 2006 accompanied by piano/bass/drums, and with a special guest appearance by jazz clarinetist/composer Derek Bermel. She then returned there in May 2007 with a quartet for two hugely successful evenings, and was back again in December. In 2007-2009, Melissa began touring with symphonies all over the country, and made her London debut in May 2008 at The Palladium with the Royal Philharmonic. Her 2009 calendar is listed on her official website.
