My momma, the poetry of Rumi, the sea, all the Goddesses I know, my grandmother, Sylvia Plath, Sappho, wild old women, Ani Difranco, Tori Amos, Bonnie Raitt, Susan Tedeschi, Jeff Buckley, India Arie, Celia White, Dido, Butterfly Boucher, Emm Gryner, Mazzy Star, Jann Arden, Sarah McLachlan, Alison Pipitone, Noa Bursie, Kelly Hunt, Dar Williams, Alanis Morissette, Paula Cole, Sarah Harmer, Peter Gabriel, Etta James, the beauty and the pain of this life...
Melissa Lussier is a 26 year old singer/songwriter with music etched into her soul. Fusing blues and folk, Melissa writes songs that explore the depths of the human experience.
Singing from a very young age, Melissa always felt a strong desire to express herself through her own music. At the age of 23, she began to learn guitar, and has been unable to put it down ever since.
Most recently, Melissa has been working with brilliant classical guitarist Ron Lelito, who accompanies her on guitar and bass. Melissa is going back into the studio in August of this year to record a demo CD as well as to work on a full-length album.
When listening to Melissa's music, one quickly gets the sense that she believes in reaching into the pain to extricate the beauty in the meaning. Melissa's vision is to find those in the world who still have antennae, and her cathartic messages range from songs that delve into the nuances of relationships, to those that explore her own feelings about religion. Melissa feels she is here to listen and to inspire, to ask her listeners to dance when frightened. She is here, broken pieces in hand, to ask for hope, and to remind others that the earth is always listening.
"...deeply moving, lilting poetry...with a guitar, a microphone, and a voice that could move mountains...warm, full sound...ranging from a deep bluesy rumble to a high, shattering wail...the soulstring-tugging poetry dares listeners to ignore her messages, ranging from hopeful to challenging and always backed by a personal story...Lussier uses her music to draw people together"

Yeah, I've seen the movie. And the person does have a face, but maybe doesn't want to turn around, or be turned around. Maybe they see magic before them, that others don't see. Who knows really?
