My name is Melissa Mannett!! I love to sing, and I get to do what I love with a lot of musical help from the people I know. I do the cover band thing in a group called MASCARA (www.myspace.com/contactmascara) and I also write and record my original tunes with Brad Prosko over at B-rad Studios.
I have been making a scene on stage for years, but getting paid for it since late 2003. I've always loved performing. I've got so much energy, I don't really know what I'm supposed to do with it all! I love to dance like no one is watching...but prefer to do it when everyone is watching! In high school I was involved in every vocal group and choir that I could be, and I played lead roles in the musicals "Grease" and "The Sound of Music".
After I got out of the high school bubble, I became lead singer in a cover band that we called MISSTATICA. After two rocking years together, MISSTATICA parted ways and then MASCARA was formed and is still a huge highlight of my life these days.
Amidst all of this I have also been writing original lyrics and melodies since I was really young...so young I can't even give you an age. In 2006 I recorded the original "Falling" with Brad Prosko at B-Rad studio, for which we were awarded the VH1 "Song of the Year" award for the month of February 2007! And it only gets better! In August 2008 I received a demo award from FACTOR (The Foundation Assisting Canadian Talent on Recordings) to record a four song EP! So that's where I am right now. I just released my EP in April 2009 and it is my proudest accomplishment yet. I am very excited about the future and hope to keep writing and singing and putting all this energy to good use!
