Writing [of course], travel [Scotland is my favorite place to go], my family and friends, genealogy, and research for my books.
Music
I enjoy a wide variety of music. My 'favorite' depends on the day, my mood, or what kind of scene I'm trying to write!
For my current book, the cd's I'm listening to are: The Sacred Fire by Nicholas Gunn [truly, I've listened to this one with every book I've written]; Anthem by Ronan Hardiman; Quest of the Dream Warrior by David Arkenstone [again, one of my writing favorites]; Faeries by Troika.
Movies
I love movies that end well. I want to walk out of the theatre feeling happy, not depressed. There are so many I've watched over and over. Here's just a sample:
Pirates of the Caribbean, Lord of the Rings [all of them], The Blues Brothers [the original], An American President, Twister, the list goes on and on.
Television
Ah, television... this changes from year to year. I'm in some sort of weird reality tv phase right now. Things like Top Chef, Dirty Jobs, and The Planet Earth are all my favorites ... at least at the moment.
Books
All of mine, of course! :-)
I have so many favorite authors, I hate to begin to list for fear of leaving one out... but here's a small selection of them:
Sherrilyn Kenyon/Kinley MacGregor, Janet Chapman, Karen Marie Moning, Kim Harrison, Charlaine Harris, Christina Skye, Christina Dodd, Katie MacAlister, Lynn Kurland, Diana Gabaldon, Elaine Levine, and of course, my wonderful Critique Partners, Rena Marks and Kirsten Richard!
Heroes
All the truly brave people of the world... those who face adversity and go on; those who struggle but don't give up.
My husband and my sons...they're all excellent hero material!
About me: I write Paranormal Romance, usually time travel, always laced with a touch of Faerie magic. Most of my stories are set, at least in part, in the Highlands of Scotland.
I consider myself the classic eternal optimist. I'm a sucker for a Happy Ever After Ending. You can go to my website,.. www.MelissaMayhue.com .. and click on "Books" to read an excerpt.
