Collaborative efforts with some of my favourite musicians over the years:
Points North Potential Threat Hail Satan Laughing Out Loud Children of the Damned Scarecrow Arc Damage Inc Premeditated Sonny Walker & Sceptre and shit loads mo'.
Influences
I believe in playing smarter, not harder. My favourite songs are the ones that sound good whether played electric or acoustic. In my experience I've found that dedication, adaptability, and dynamics-not stomp boxes, record contracts, or image-make for good, and sometimes great, songs.
Studying either with bass-maestro Steve Hoffman privately for 3 years going over the history of rock and bass from Maiden, Rush, and the Police to the academic halls of the SRJC and SFSU improvising jazz and funk, to the jam joints in every crack-ville town here to nowhere, I found music is about playing like you know something. Music is not about how much you can say, but about what you have to say. It's communicating without having to use words. Good music is like good people, it comes in all types.
Sounds Like
All your favorite bands, but mixed up so you won't recognize the riffs.
From the poducks of Cotati with local Nor-Cal hardcore faves Laughing Out Loud to freezing-fucking-cold winter temperatures thrashing in Denver with Scarecrow, and feet up to the beach views of SoCal with Fusion-Rock 3-piece Points North, I'll meddle with any musical adventure worth it's share in loot 'n bootie. Ain't known no better since forever.
Representing a "back to the classics" school of rock, I'm enthusiastic about tried and true 4-string bass playing, standard tuning, vintage tube amps, passive pick-ups, and extended solo breaks.
I play a vintage Ampeg Classic Tube Head with either an Ampeg Classic 8x10 or 2x15 cabinet. I prefer either my 4001 Rickenbacker bass that I got in '95, or my '74 Fender Geddy Lee Jazz Reissue. Sometimes for recording my '93 Spector cuts the mustard, but it usually stays home these days. For guitars, my Gibson Les Paul Studio or Ibanes acoustic will get 'er done right quick.
