The New Addiction Ep to be released Fall 2009

NEEDED: Genre-flexible drummer for a three-piece guitar based band that plays with a live click track (metronome). Original songs, with an occasional cover. Influences range from Depeche Mode to James Brown to New Order to Michael Jackson.

To the callous music critic, Mellowtronic is just another byproduct of Depeche Mode and U2, another pair of guitarists with laptops and pirated beatmaking software. But anyone who knows them and it only takes one careful listen to their debut EP, The New Addiction, to become acquainted-- hears the more profound influences: childhood regimens of James Brown and Stevie Wonder; adolescences navigated by hard rock and smooth, electronic grooves; the harrowing emergence as young adults born of the breathless backdrop of Chicago, the city itself a member of the band.
Mellowtronic is greater than the sum of its parts: Singer/songwriter Chava Garcia breathes life into the songs; bassist/arranger Colin Morris steers their blood. The band handily drives searing rock progressions opposite lilting electronic sequencing to form the bedrock over which Garcia chants verses of love, existentialism and urban life.
The release of The New Addiction marks the end of a two-year hiatus for the group, who is headed full speed to a Chicago venue near you.
