Two years have gone by since Melodramus, a four piece band from SLC, Utah, released their first full-length album. Now, it has been three committing years since the four members have worked with one another as friends and musicians to create an everlasting impact on listeners as they ride on the waves of a musical journey.
Lead vocalist and guitarist Zakkary Hale, bassist Mikey Collard, drummer Andrew Hopkins, and keyboardist and second lead vocalist Ted Newsom aka The Rose Phantom, have consistently put their musical minds and hearts together in Melodramus to create a sound that blends metal and progressive pop. In other words, a melting pot of genres makes up the lack thereof.
Hale, Hopkins, and Collard set the basic foundation of Melodramus’ sound with hours of carefully written guitar hooks and riffs, groovy bass lines, and precise and punchy drumming; all the while, The Rose Phantom puts the icing on the cake by contributing layers of atmospheric sounds created from his collection of synthesizers and keyboards.
The band’s first album, ‘30 Silver Pieces’, released in 2007, paved the beginning steps for the band. The album comprises more than one genre as elements of rock, metal, and pop weave in and out of songs. Two years following their first album has allowed the band to grow on many different levels in terms of musicianship and songwriting through stages of time and trial. The two years leading up to now has also given the band members a chance to create an ultimate sound for Melodramus. The next album, titled ‘Two: Glass Apple’, will be released in late 2009, and is said to be vastly different sounding than the first.
Melodramus has enjoyed playing numerous live shows to all ages and is ready to see where their future lies.
