machaco / Precious (from New Album "Precious") machaco Born and raised in Aichi, Machaco's musical career began as a singer / DJ for the Dynasty sound system in 1992. Her talent being recognized immediately, she started to record for a variety of producers ever since.Machaco's first big break came in 1996 with "Ghetto Boy" (JAP jam), a song which is still a favorite of reggae fans today. Her follow-up singles, "Melody Life" (Sistren), "Train to Zion" (Sistren) and "Songs of Freedom" (MS Entertainment), also became big hits. In 1995 during her time as a disc jockey of CBC's popular radio program "Denpadelique" she won the Galaxy Award for best radio personality. Machaco is the first and still the only reggae artist to win a Galaxy. The album, "Love So Divine" (Stars Arena, 2004) which reflects all her musical aspects, has sold well . And a song from the album, "Musical Caravan", which was used by the Meisei Group for a TV commercial, has become a highly recognized local hit. In 2005, Machaco established her own record label "Melody Life" to pursue the path of self-production work with artists, musicians and engineers in Jamaica. Her first self-produced mini-album "Truly" (2006) was greetedwith very favorable reviews. Machaco has been one of the most consistently successful female vocalists in the history of reggae music in Japan, and is becoming a successful producer at the same time.
