Interests

  • Music

Having the name Melody one would think that I am musical... I am not. My family is chock full of musicians, but I did beat Guitar Hero within a week. I listen to house, rock, punk, country, hip-hop, bluegrass - just about everything and I have my favorites and opinions about most of it, too. I would have to peg industrial and alt rock as well as San Fran house as my favorites. I guess that makes me kind of emo... excuse me, I am off to paint my nails black.
  • Movies

Okay I am back and my nails are dry. My favorite movies... I am not at all artsy. I love a good laugh or a good story, preferably both.
  • Television

I lurve TV but don't get to watch enough of it. As far as "appointment viewing" Dexter and The Office are it. At all other times I have the station tuned to news, gossip rags, Comedy Central, true crime stuff, the History Channel, and that singular MTV station that still plays videos. I love trash TV.
  • Books

I have a profile on GoodReads.com... I was a lit major so, for the love of all that's mighty, you really don't want me to get into it here.
  • Heroes

People with few words who only speak when they have something really important to say... I totally don't get how people can do that.

Blurbs

About me:

My name is Melody, and I am a blog-o-holic. I blog, work, and play in St. Louis, Missouri, where I live with my dog, Sasha, and my husband. We do not raise farm animals, nor do we know how to flash gang signs. We are a typical twenty-something couple: working, playing, and trying to figure out why pizza has gotten so expensive.

I enjoy long walks on concrete sidewalks, dinner under pendant lamps of colored glass, and a nice Barossa Valley Shiraz. I have two bachelor’s degrees, one in English Literature and one in Education, and I am not afraid to use them. As such, I am an avid reader and I love to talk to people - hence the whole blogging and writing thing.

I grew up in a far-flung suburb of St. Louis listening to David Bowie (I will bet you a dollar I am the biggest fan evah!) and grunge rock. I died my hair blue and wore flannel for a stint in high school, and left soccer practice to shop at the Gap during another. Such were the ’90’s. During college I was a DJ because I am the only one in my family with ZERO musical talent and I couldn’t be in a band. Instead, I got paid to play CD’s made by people far more talented than I, and worked on my college paper as the Entertainment Editor interviewing said people.

Who I'd like to meet:

I would like to meet Stephanie Meyer and Rob Pattinson as Edward Cullen. If that were to happen I would steal all of Stephanie Meyer's manuscripts, hypnotize her to think that she is me and I am her, and then I would run away with Edward Cullen ... even though he is like eleven years younger than I am and that's kind of creepy (oh yeah, and impossible since he is a fictional character). I would, however, definitely take Rob Pattinson in his place. Obviously I am a Twilight fan, an aspiring novel writer, and have a completely deluded view of men because of both.

I would also like to meet Hunter S. Thompson during his Rolling Stone-Gonzo journalist hayday. I probably wouldn't hypnotize him, but I would probably insist on being his designated driver.

I love it, but you have to get a teacher that is really into it. My instructor is and she is awesome. I think you would like it! I also have no dance background and I can follow it pretty well.

nope it was never returned i think it was stolen at the airport. It never left Atlanta. As for the er trip I poked Matt in the eye and scraped off several superficial layers of his eye. UGH! I had to drive to Colorado by 10 am the day before i flew (had to wait on birth certificate). They were AWESOME! I got my passport in 1 hour. On our way got a flat tire. I just think that the odds were against us, but we are both okay now and even though it was very stressful it was still wonderful to see him.
