About Mel Stempinski

Born in Normandy, France, Mel started her classical piano studies at the age of seven and singing at thirteen in “La Compagnie Des Petits Artistes”. She began to develop her interest in jazz at the age of seventeen and started formal singing lessons with Gérard Fouillard.

Mel Stempinski herself draws from her wide-ranging experiences performing in France and later on Spain. These have given her voice a unique flavour which, combined with the improvisational quality of her singing, makes for a refreshingly original sound.

Now based in Reading she has decided to start her own band mixing her love of jazz with the different languages she has acquired over the last few years.
