MELTDOWN..S LEGACY
Meltdown..s history comprises determination, perseverence, feeling and courage to represent the triumph of darkness through the art of extreme music.
Meltdown..s legacy goes back to 1995 in Mexico City, the year in which Daniel García Avilés began the most important and ambitious project of his career as a musician: to assemble a solid and consistent band to reach one goal: turn the essence of the “metal of death” into a way of life. The extreme music scene of the late 80..s and early 90..s were the essential inspirations to pave the way to darkness: Worth mentioning are bands like Dissection, Unleashed, Entombed, Dismember, Necrophobic, Benediction, Bolt Thrower, Gorefest, Edge of Sanity, Grave, Morbid Angel, Slayer or Death; without forgetting cornerstones like Black Sabbath, Judas Priest or Iron Maiden. All these and more were elements that gave the project identity to create it..s hymns of death.
By the end of 1995, three months of commited work gave birth to the band..s first demo “Human Disintegration”, only destined to the undergound and with which the band received an array of positive reviews that only reinforced their “death cult” ideology. Two years later, a wrathful second demo was recorded: “At the end of an unreal world”, this time with a clear influence from the old school swedish death metal scene. With the end of the decade drawing near and big goals still to be accomplished, the band struggled to stay amongst the elite in the mexican extreme metal scene and by the dawning of the 21st century was created, “Inner Enemy”. This opus was limited to 400 copies and was a milestone in their career as a new indispensable member would join the band-Rafael Román (ex Kindesmord)- not only to take care of the conceptual & vocal duties but also add more strength, leadership and commitment. After a period of time of great acceptance by the undergound metal scene in Mexico, the band reached a fase of uncertainty, as to whether relocate to a different part of the globe- that could possibly grant them more opportunities,- or stay in their home country but feeling that not much more could be done in order to ascend and push their musical/cultural proposal forward.
On November 2001 the band decided to move to Europe, hopefully in order to shape a more auspicious career within the international extreme metal community and allow them to reveal their work outside their local boundaries. Madrid was the chosen city for the relocation and after a crucial period of adjustment and struggle to keep their “flame alive”, the band started to write new material on 2004. Nevertheless, the next following years only embodied a hectic stage for Meltdown, as line-ups kept on changing and a clear lack of dedication and involvement was shown.
It wasn..t until 2007 when a stable and devoted line-up was consummated and performances on stage took place once again with Daniel García Avilés and Rafael Román as frontmen. More than a decade of faithful dedication to obscurity through the art of extreme metal spawned “The Quietus”, first full-length recorded in late 2007 at Sandman Studios (Madrid, SPAIN) and mastered at Finnvox Studios (Helsinki, FINLAND), with Alfred Berengena as session drummer. This latest album symbolized personal and musical trascendence within Meltdown.
The legacy will continue to gratify those who feel akin with the ideology behind the forces of darkness and the “cult of death”....
