Melting Pot's Interests
General
A pretty good BBC documentary which when it gets past the sexual politics bit gives some good insight into David Mancuso's Loft parties in NYC...
Music
we love it all - disco, house, techno, funk, soul, jazz, rock, indie and anything else i might have missed. we love audio as well - no point having the music if it doesn't sound good!
Heroes
Wow, too many to mention...Larry Levan, David Mancuso, Ian Curtis, Kraftwerk, Moodymann, Joe Strummer, Ladyboygrimsby and all at Faith, Body and Soul crew, all the New York, Detroit and Chi-Town innovators, all the Glasgow promoters/djs/bands who stick with it week in week out, keeping the scene alive.......
About me: Myspace Contact Tables - Get this Contact TableLyrics
Melting Pot started way back in 2001 as the original disco- ish club of its kind in Scotland. Over the years we've seen many amazing guests come to the Riverside Club, boat parties on the Clyde, and Loch Lomond; regulars, friends, laughter, hangovers, late Saturday nights and early Sunday mornings.
Having flirted with new venue, The Admiral, at Hogmanay, and now that The Riverside has finally been laid to rest, the good ship Melting Pot has a new permanent home. May this new relationship shine long and strong.
With the last couple of months setting the scene, the new venue (with two floors to play with) will see the beginning of a new era for the long running, trend-flouting party, with the promise of live performances to add to the mix. The residents will continue to capture the music from New York from the era that spawned clubs such as the Paradise Garage, however the eclectic disco odyssey will now journey into live performances from the world of soul, funk, techno and even indie.
Todd Terje returns to town laden with special disco edits a-plenty. He'll join our favourite bearded Barbarossa for a night of merriment not to be missed. Check todays Metro for an interview with Todd. Here's one in the List too. http://www. list. co. uk/article/9141-todd-terje/
