About me: MELTING POT is part of the Freestyle Junkies collective and have been running nights and art/music porjects successfully for years in England and some in Holland. We try to put on local DJs and Musicians and for us it's just as important to put up unknown talent and give them a stage as it is to put on the more established DJs and musicians.
Our next event will take place on the 19th of September 2008 in THE KING'S MANOR (formely Moot) and will present "JONSTUN AND URBAN GEISHA" - 4 peace outfit based in Newcastle, mixing together electronic sounds with guitars, brass and drums. Their sound comes from the heart and has been shaped by the band members diverse cultural backgrounds and heritage, which makes the music truly international!
Just stopping by to say hi and give you some news. The new album 'Welcome To Murraysville' from Phil Murray and the Boys From Bury is now available worldwide from CD Baby and directly from the merchandise page of the official website. You can also get the album from Apple iTunes, MSN Music, Rhapsody, Napster, Amazon and many more.
Danny Massure's latest release 'Put It On Me' brings the sounds of acid jazz to the club. The fresh sound is due in part to the featured Seattle funk masters Tracy Ferrara on sax, Jeff Conlin on keys, Jason Graczyk on guitar and Matt Reid on trumpet. The funk gets flipped by remixers BadboE, Jayl Funk, The Breakbeat Junkie and Omegaman.
BANDWIDTH features a new or up and coming touring act along with local bands that fit the bill. It’ll take you through a whole mix of genres from electro and rock, through funk and punk, stopping off at folk and classical and probably pop in some indie and ska for good measure, and all for just £7.
Sounds like we have some mutual friends...I've spoken to Jonstun about doing some material and Urban Geisha is playing at our album launch! You should check out our stuff and let us know if you want to play at any of your future events, we're all local lads...Peace
