what’s in a name?
mirm=acronym: memeintherhythmmachine

the breakdown:
/meem/ [coined on analogy with ..gene’ by Richard Dawkins] n. An idea considered as a {replicator}, esp. with the connotation that memes parasitize people into propagating them much as viruses do.
Use of the term connotes acceptance of the idea that in humans (and presumably other tool- and language-using sophonts) cultural evolution by selection of adaptive ideas has superceded biological evolution by selection of hereditary traits.
{A meme is an idea that is passed on from one human generation to another. It’s the cultural equivalent of a gene, the basic element of biological inheritance.}
Dawkins speculated that human beings have an adaptive mechanism that other species don’t have. In addition to genetic inheritance with its possibilities and limitations, humans, said Dawkins, can pass their ideas from one generation to the next, allowing them to surmount challenges more flexibly and more quickly than through the longer process of genetic adaptation and selection.
{Examples of memes might include the idea of God; the importance of the individual as opposed to group importance; the belief that the environment can to some extent be controlled; or that technologies can create an electronically interconnected world community.}
"But do we have to go to distant worlds to find other kinds of replicator and other, consequent, kinds of evolution? A new kind of replicator has recently emerged on this very planet. It is still in its infancy--but already it is achieving evolutionary change at a rate that leaves the old gene far behind.
{Examples of memes are tunes, ideas, catch-phrases, clothes fashions, ways of making pots, building arches or a better mouse trap for that matter.}
Just as genes propogate themselves in the gene pool by leaping from body to body via sperms or eggs, so memes propogate themselves in the meme pool by leaping from brain to brain via a process which, in the broad sense, can be called imitation." To an extent-- it could be argued that a meme could autonomously propagate itself, spreading from brain to brain--only requiring humans as an intermediate/temporary host.

hope you'll like at least one of my tracks as much i like yours :)
I finally decided to put some of my works, that have been evolvin in past few years, in one "folder". Let's call it an Album. Or Release... Anyway, you get the point ;)
Eterno Amor by Colores en Espiral, was originally released as a very limited CD edition in 2003 in Peru. It was the result of the work of Edison Carhuaricra Perez and Oscar Cirineo Villanueva between 1999 and 2003. The limited size of the edition did not keep it from becoming a classic work and an important example of the electronic experimental scene developing in the city of La Oroya, Peru during the last decade. This internet edition is part of a series of releases by discos invisibles/dinet that documents, preserves and makes available the works of musical experimentation produced in one of the most polluted but musically prolific cities of Peru.
