Memphis Raqs is a bellydance company in Memphis, TN, specializing in the art of tribal fusion bellydance, an eclectic blend of traditional dances from the Middle East, North Africa, and Central Asia with a hint of contemporary urban spice.
The name Memphis Raqs (pronounced rocks) comes from the Arabic word raqs which means "to dance." Traditionally, bellydance is known as raqs sharqi, meaning "dance of the East"
Instruction: We offer instruction in tribal fusion bellydance for students of all backgrounds, whether you're interested in a new dance genre, looking for a fun way to exercise and get fit, starting a new chapter in your life, or trying to escape the hussle and bussle of everyday life for an hour every week!
