Mendella a biography

MENDELLA started out late 2006 when a few school friends, bonded by their shared love of great music, began rehearsing as a band after class as a way of avoiding detention (naughty chaps). Almost immediately they found they had a management company and instantly a string of things started to happen. Suddenly they were doing private London showcases, touring some of the 'toilet' (and not so 'toilet') venues in the UK, building a devoted fanbase, recording demos with people like Paul Reeve, who produced the seminal ep’s for Muse entitled “Muse” and “Muscle Museum” and getting taken on by top London PR firm Covert PR (Warners, Transgressive, Fierce Panda).

Live, you will find Butters, their wiry lead vocalist, vying for audio space alongside Green Jay and Chappell’s soaring guitars, Jude Davies’ thundering bass lines and Toby Parker’s pounding drums –compelling stuff. With influences ranging from the classic rock bands of yester-year through to today’s NME darlings, Mendella are proud to pilfer from both old and new to craft and mould their sound in an ever evolving way. Think Ozzy Ozbourne shouting at Abba whilst looking like Franz Ferdinand crossed with Towers of London and you would be close-ish.

2008 is set to be action packed for the band, with showcases planned around the world in all the major music festivals; SXSW (US), NXNE (Canada), London Calling (UK), ITC (UK), Popkomm (Germany), the list is endless and growing. Currently unsigned, their next milestone is to record some tracks for a limited edition debut ep later this year and then let destiny write the sequel…
