Robben Ford, Led Zep, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Audioslave, springsteen, Toto, Shihad, Black rebel motorcycle club - funk and groove based rock and blues
A three piece that isn’t a Stevie Ray clone, ahhhh I feel better already! The beauty of the blues is that it continues to evolve, with talented musicians adding new takes. MIB is a rhythm’n’groove band, by no means short on blues, but not the 12 bar bumpa bumpa variety. At first you notice the musicality, Mike Beale’s guitar, Marty Knight on bass and Andy Erwirda on drums, they play as one, not merely as a lead guitar support. Individual brilliance or pyrotechnics are exchanged for strong songs where no weak links exist. Beale’s vocals and song writing breathe fresh air into a genre that is notorious (in this country anyway) for not prioritising these essential ingredients. In true blues style, political correctness is thrown out the window and replaced with raw emotion and feelings. Overall a great bunch of songs that should engage both traditional and contemporary blues fans alike. MIB will be in Melbourne in early November so check the gig guides.
