Hailing from the muggy swamps of Richmond Virginia, Mensrea was dredged up early in 2001. Born out of the splintering of other Richmond bands, these long time friends fell in line to form the super-organism that they are today.
Pulling from a diverse set of influences, the band began writing and released a self produced and self titled debut in 2003. Though seething in the underground, the record was met with quiet yet ecstatic praise. After this they hit the streets hard, proving their worth as a live act. An impressive calendar of events followed, with four years of independent booking and touring, and the band finding itself solely through self promotion.
In 2007 Mensrea reconvened at their home base, Karma Productions, and began writing and recording their sophomore effort. Spring of 2008 saw the long awaited release of "Media Coil Interrupt". Described by many as "tighter than a gnat's ass", the record showcases Mensrea as comfortable in their stylistic choices, heavier, edgier, and more refined than ever. Spring and summer tours followed the release, with the band garnering their largest audiences yet.
To this day Mensrea has shared stages nationwide with the likes of Gwar, Devildriver, Death Angel, Soilent Green, Alabama Thunderpussy, God Forbid, All That Remains, Shadows Fall, Turbonegro, Dying Fetus, Green Jello and many more. Stay tuned for further transmissions...

Here's a quote I saw today that made me think about the priorities in life;
"Imagine life as a game in which you are juggling five balls in the air. You name them - work, family, health, friends, and spirit - and you're keeping all of these in the air. You will soon understand that work is a rubber ball. If you drop it, it will bounce back. But the other four balls - family, health, friends, and spirit are made of glass. If you drop one of these, they will be irrevocably scuffed, marked, nicked, damaged, or even shattered...You must understand that and strive for balance in your life."~Brian Dyson
I hope that you have been able to keep things balanced, I am trying harder to! ROCK ON! Karen :)
