The band was a perfect example of the Britpop scene in London and they signed their record deal after their fifth gig. They appeared on the cover of Melody Maker before they had recorded a note. The band were noted for the Mod-influenced dress sense, including tight fitting suits. This may have been influenced by Blur's second album Modern Life is Rubbish.
The band, with their enjoyable Elastica and Blur-influenced pop songs found some fame and managed to generate so much publicity that they were able to appear on Top of the Pops a week before their first single was released. This made them the first band to technically appear on the show without releasing a record. Their first single I'll Manage Somehow was a minor hit, and their second single Daydreamer peaked at number 14 in the UK charts.
The band had more than their share of critics who pointed out that the band were extremely derivative and that they probably would not have been noticed had they not been five handsome and charming young men. It could be said that the band were more famous for wanting to be in a pop group than for their music, but then the same could also be said for many other pop bands. The fact that they played guitar-based indie rock rather than dance pop music of boybands angered some critics and more seriously minded rock fans. However the band was able to appeal to readers of both the NME and Smash Hits.
Despite all of this the band built a strong fanbase and released their debut album Nuisance in 1995. At the Glastonbury Festival of the same year, the band played a memorable performance. Another single Stardust followed at the end of 1995.
After the popularity of Britpop faded so did the band, and they disappeared from view just as quickly as they arrived. The band released a second album Hay Tiempo! in 1998 which was only available in Japan.
