Mento Buru is a crazy 8-piece band that combines Jamaican SKA, rock, funk, salsa, hip-hop, jazz, and punky reggae creating a maddening musical experience.
What started out as just a bunch of friends jamming for backyard parties, has evolved into a cross-cultural phenomenon all over California! Born during the year when grunge and depression were the fashion, Mento Buru didn't care. It wasn't about trends and trying to be cool flying the wack, smelly flannel shirt with Doc Marten boots and shorts, it was about having fun playing the music we love, not the latest fad. Whether you're into Punk, Country, Rockabilly, Cumbia, Salsa, Reggae, Ska, Oi!, Emo, Goth, Metal or whatever weird names they come up with next, you'll find yourself welcome at the Mento Buru show. As always, musicians are always welcome to join in. Music for the people, by the people. Try it, you'll like it!

Did you watch that special tonight on TV of President Barack Obamambo, cumbiero, salsero & family & all his staff & executive etceteras, in the back yard honoring Hispanics ? It was great! Imagine, how he gave our people "altesa" or a high place in just 1 hour. You could tell our culture & music really moved & excited the first family . George Lopez, Longoria & Smits hosted & did great @ addressing those high & mighty people who lead our nation. Those people who criticized his getting the Nobel Peace Prize should put a piece of gum on it & get Obamatized . Life goes on. I wish he or Obamamma could come & see & dance to our own Mento Buru sound on Dia de Los Muertos Nov 2 @ Golden state Mall. Any body else get to see that special? Well did you leave the computer & got up to dance & cheer? Great Googa Mooga I sure did!! This was historical!!
