He began playing the trumpet when he was 10 and started studying at the Jazzschool in Zurich (CH) at the tender age of 15. .. Menzel got the chance to work with Kenny Wheeler, John Taylor, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Lalo Schifrin, Adrian Mears, Bill Dobbins, Marko Lackner, Niels Klein, Peter Herbolzheimer and many others... He also had lessons with Ralph Allessi, Bert Joris, Matthieu Michel, Andi Harderer, Matthias Bergmann, Alex Sipiagin, Ravi Coltrane, Drew Gress, Mark Ferber, Ack van Rooyen and more... Currently Menzel is studying at the Hochschule für Musik in Köln, where he lives and works as a freelance musican. -
