" ... a tight, eerie horror movie sound ... one that reminded me of the Omen, Rosemary's Baby, and Goblin's later, synth-era Argento soundtracks. The band is conceptually driven, anti-femme in its refusal to pander to the current crop of pop-image-exploitation indie bands, and full of militant poetry ... beautiful and scary in an uncommon way."
- Tom McGrath
Mercat sound like a tired sailor looking through the snow at the shore, where he sees a broken-down amusement park that was built in the '30s and lost popularity in the '50s. He feels a bit seasick, and his solitude makes him miss the opportunity to be passive aggressive with the people he loves. He considers the benefits of, once he gets home, letting a pack of anthropomorphic animals loose in a warehouse of old instruments.
And then Mercat started to grow claws, in Brooklyn and Queens, and believed they wouldn't have bad dreams if they told themselves not to.
i'm rockin -not the word- to yr cd. its like a surreal oompah nightmare seesaw for orphaned kittens. but the meows and scratching should be a little higher in the mix imho.
