Matthew Mercer lives in Chicago where he creates music and works as a graphic designer. Having previously released 12" singles on Forte and Neutonmusic as well as affiliations with Ware and the now-defunct 409 art group, in 2006 he started a new project called Microfilm with vocalist Matt Keppel. In 2007, the two started a small label for their endeavours, Fiche Music; he released 2 short albums compiling both new and old solo material in the fall. He is also considering a digital re-issue of his first 12" for Forte, Secrets, long out of print.

You working dog, you. I'm off. My big plans are taking a Valium and going to the metroparks. This would be a great day for "Rent-a-dog" Check it out: you would rent a dog for the day. It would hang its head out the window while you drive and you'd hang out at the park. Then at the end of the day you return the dog. You know for people with allergies who reaallly want to hang out with a dog. I'd like that.
Will vote 4 U. I'm good. Just got a job singing opera in a restaurant. Finally getting paid for something I really enjoy. Remix the hell outa that radiohead.
The Autechre show was decent - I forget how bland a laptop/gear performance can be, even when I adore the music. The opening act was a bit strange. I forget his name, but he must've been in his late 40's and looked like he's done a decent amount of drugs. I liked the construct of some of his pieces, but the set had zero direction and it was all just mish-mashed together with no rhyme or reason. On the plus side, he did play an echoey, reverbed metallic oboe at times. Pretty cool.
Autechre was great musically, but the place was packed and there were ZERO lights on at the stage. With all the people bumping into me, I'd rather have listened to their performance at the bar upstairs under a pair of headphones with my eyes shut. I'd also done a rigorous leg workout at the gym a few hours earlier, so standing in place for a few hours sucked. I'm old and bitchy. :)
All in all, decent show but nothing to write home to Mom about.
i still have your old systm CDR, and i found another CDR that had a track with change (think quarters etc) in the dryer spinning over and over again...very cool stuff.
