Braden: Patience on a monument's Interests
|
| General | Writing (plays, poetry, penthouse articles, obits) - The moon - Christian Boltanksi's installations - 20's/30's jazz - contemporary singer/songwriters who can quiet a room - movement theater - I think about Boston too much - reading Andre Dubus (Sr.) - I enjoy touching myself and hysterically sobbing simultaneously... Ya know...at parties 'n shit. - The piano when there's one nearby - I love disintegrating buildings built before 1900, FALL WEATHER, cold heavy rain, windless winter nights, Dorothy Parker, soul-shattering music, and FIERCE WRITING. - Talking to people about their art - Playfulness regardless of age - yo' mama on stilts, etc etc. | | Music | Kings of Convenience, Leah Siegel (www.leahsiegel.com), Damien Rice, Chet Baker, Billie Holliday, Psapp, Sufjan Stevens, Red Nichols, Jon Hassell, Sarah Vaughan, Jeff Buckley, Jon Brion, Louis Armstrong, Devotchka, Feist, Yo Yo Ma, Bach, Bill Ricchini, Elvis singing Blue Moon, Duke Ellington, Psapp, old Fiona Apple, Caroline or Change, | | Movies | Home For the Holidays, Magnolia, We Don't Live Here Anymore, Once, The Hours, Lolita (remake), Unfaithful, With Honors, Requiem For a Dream (though I probably can't ever watch it again), The Talented Mr. Ripley, Far Harbor, The War Within, Broadcast News, Amelie, Hillary & Jackie, Noises Off, Fight Club, Angels In America (both parts), The Girl in the Cafe, Babel, and With Honors again because it was just on and I fucking love that sappy sappy movie. | | Television | I hate TV. But I love: The West Wing (Danny Concannon always knows best. Always.), FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS (it's the best thing on television, what a fucking smart show), HUFF, reruns of Felicity, and I recently found once again (thank god) reruns of My So Called Life. Grey's Anatomy - when the writing isn't embarrassing for the actors. | | Books | AUTOBIOGRAPHY OF RED by ANNE CARSON (unfuckingbelievable), Flesh and Blood or anything else by Michael Cunningham, Giovanni's Room, The Great Gatsby, We Don't Live Here Anymore (and the rest of my Dubus collection), The Poisonwood Bible, Written On the Body, Invisible Monsters, my Dorothy Parker collection, Everything Is Illuminated, the "FRANNY" part of Franny & Zooey, Jung's The Modern Man In Search of a Soul (I put that one on because it changed my life and because I was trying to indicate once more my wealth of integrity. I mean, it's really good, but I'm trying to impress you.) | | Heroes | I just don't believe in pedastalling people you aren't hopelessly in love with...or your mom. Well...ONE's mother. Not yours specifically. No, I don't mean - I mean, there's nothing wrong with your mother, that's not... |

Braden: Patience on a monument's Blurbs |
About me:
"OPEN", written and directed by yours truly, will be playing on the Bailiwick Mainstage for three nights only on June 2, 3, and 4 as part of the Bailiwick Directors Festival. This is my introduction to Chicago as a Director (at long last). Come see what all the hype's been about (the hype about me...specifically...). This is me in my element folks. I need your support, and I need your sweet, sweet love, and I need you to bring your friends, and I need you to be pretty (and you ARE, you ARE!).
Amazing things are going to happen. Ready set GO.
I edited my profile with Thomas Myspace Editor V3.6!

Who I'd like to meet:
Al Gore - Anne Carson - Adrienne Rich - Naomi Wallace - Damien Rice - Bradley Whitford - Bill T. Jones - Dorothy Parker - Aaron Sorkin - and Carl Jung (with a translator...) - Charlie Dalton and Knox Overstreet from Dead Poet Society. Also, a young man. You know the kind.
