Influences
MercuroChrome spans three generations of musicians and because of that we all have a wide variety of musical influence. Dave, the band's patriarch, spent his youth digging on the power-pop of Mitch Easter, and today still loves a good power-pop show (only missing the Sparklefest once...this year). Duke grew up loving Ace Frehley's guitar playing (he's almost embarrassed about this fact...almost...) and a little KISS ends up peaking its head out in MercuroChrome's rocking rhythms. Laura, who just picked up the bass to play for MercuroChrome, has played banjo for a while now, and comes with her ears tuned by the likes of Gillian Welch and Lucinda Williams. Brian spent his late teens trying to be Bob Pollard (by following him around, nonetheless) and hurt his liver many times in the process. These influences take on a new life in MercuroChrome...Duke tightens the screws while Brian loosens them, and Laura and Dave lock into a tight groove that just won't fail. Look for Laura's newest additions to the band: she's quickly becoming the band's hardest working songwriter with new duties as the band's singer for several of her new songs. She has helped take the band's sound back to her Bracken County, Kentucky roots, with a definite "mercuro-touch".
Sounds Like
Sounds like colors. Feels like sound. Tastes like pretty. Looks like cinnamon. Smells like concrete.
MercuroChrome is best known for shaking the walls of Cincinnati-area bars with vibrant rock 'n roll.
