Without him, we are nothing. There is also a major influence that drives this group to continue singing for Christ and that is the former group, The Master's Quartet. Being the only surviving singer, I made a very special promise to God that I would carry his message in song just as long as he allows. There have been others, such as Karen Peck & New River; Danny Funderburk & Mercy's Way; Heirline, etc, too many to name. | | Sounds Like | We sound like no other. Mercy Rain has a unique sound. | | Record Label | Indie | | Type of Label | None |

| About Mercy Rain Ministries |
I edited my profile at ChristianMySpaceCodes.com Christian Myspace
Mercy Rain was formed in 1998 by LaVerne Sanders and former member Kevin Kearns. Mercy Rain was born out of a desire to serve Christ in the best way they knew how. LaVerne had been a victim of a tragic bus accident many years ago, leaving her disabled and not sure if she would ever walk or talk again, let alone sing. However, God performed his miracle and by his Grace, she has been spreading the Gospel for the last 10 years in song.
Current members are LaVerne Sanders/manager/lead and Clayton Thomas/baritone. Noah Sanders does the driving, setting up, etc. Keith Sanders runs the sound for the group.
Mercy Rain is blessed to have shared the same stage with such performers as: Karen Peck & New River, The Chuck Wagon Gang, the Dixie Melody Boys, The Down East Boys, Perfect Grace, and Danny Funderburk & Mercy's Way, and The Bibletones.
LaVerne, Noah, & Keith reside in Enterprise, Alabama. LaVerne has been singing just about her whole life and contributes her love of music to her Mom, Dicie Herring, who taught her the Christian way and brought her up in a very musical household and to her brother, James Lord. James spent many days and nights teaching LaVerne how to read the music in the old hymnals. Although her Mom did not sing, she always had Gospel music playing around the house. LaVerne also contributes her dedication and persistance to carry the Gospel to the group that gave her a chance 13 years ago, "The Master's Quartet". Everything she sings is in honor of our Loving Savior, Jesus Christ and "The Master's Quartet". Read her story in her blogs.
JOYCE SUMMERS is the newest addition to Mercy Rain, bringing in the alto part. She resides in Dothan, Alabama with her husband, Don. She is an accomplished instrumentalist, vocalist and composer who has ministered extensively in song through out the south at churches, conferences, festivals and camp meetings. Coming from a legacy of talented musicians and anointed vocalist, from the small Southern Northwest Florida town of "CHIPLEY, FLORIDA". "Joyce recalls growing up singing in her local church, as her mother and father would teach each child the Joy of the God given talent he gifted each child with. Joyce, being the youngest of (15) children, gave her a special platform to be the featured singer of all the children.
Joyce has authored many anointed songs. Some are featured selections on her most recent recording call, "SONGS OF HOPE". Joyce contributes her incentive for hard work in music field to the God given talent that was given to her at a young age. Joyce has been singing for 35 years and thanks for the hard work from her adopted Mentors, such as: Her Mother and Father, MR. AND MRS. JACK HADDOCK, JAVETTA SAUNDERS, VESTAL GOODMAN, DOTTIE RAMBO. To learn more about Joyce, visit her websites: www.shoutlife.com/joycehsummers and www.myspace/joycehsummers. You will be blessed by her talent and her spirit as she ministers each time.
Clayton Thomas completes the group, singing baritone.
He was raised in a small North Florida town by great parents, both heavily involved in the music programs at their rural country church. He was saved at 12 years of age in that rural Baptist church and sang duets with his Dad at worship services. He has had some part in music his entire life, either as a choir member, music director, song writer, soloist, member of a trio and leader and organizer of a gospel quartet. His brother-in-law and he has written several songs and have even had some published. He loves all music but love Southern Gospel music with all his heart. His mother played the piano in church services while his Dad led the music. His sister and oldest brother have also been heavily involved in gospel music all their lives.
"God has given me a strong desire to proclaim the Good News about His Son through music and as long as he gives strength to do so, I shall," says Clayton. He presently lives in DeFuniak Springs, Florida with his wife. They have two children, Craig who is married with two beautiful daughters, and Amy who is also married with four children. Craig is very active in Southern Gospel music and sings in a local family group and recently committed to sing professionally in a local group. Amy is active in her church and also loves to sing.
We'll have more news about the newest member shortly. As always, times change and people have to do the same. The person filling the tenor position will be announced soon.
Be sure and come see Mercy Rain when they are in your area. You are sure to be blessed by the message their music brings and the awesome testimony LaVerne tells about her miraculous touch from God.

LAVERNE'S TESTIMONY...............
I want to get my testimony out there for all to read. God has been so good to me and I want to share my experience. Life is full of surprises and turns and twists, you just have to know when to let God take control. Sometimes, we don't want to lose control.
I had been invited to sing with a Southern Gospel Quartet, "The Master's Quartet" in May of 1994. I was beyond myself, as I had never sang in a group setting before, just solo's for our church, etc. I had been singing as a child for many years in our church functions from the time I was 8 years old.
"The Master's Quartet" was owned and managed by Steve & Melinda Brown. The members were Steve Brown (bass & manager); Melinda Brown (alto); Gary Bryan (baritone/lead); myself (tenor/lead); Helen Nichols (piano); and Warren Nichols (drummer). Gary was my cousin by marraige. Helen Nichols had been one of my best friends for many years.
We had a concert tour planned for Illinois, and on October 6th, 1994, we set off in our bus about 6:00am that morning from Dellwood, Florida, We made one stop to get coffee, etc just before the Alabama state line. From that point until the other side of Dothan, Alabama, we watched the latest home video taken of our sing. I went to the front of the bus to sit and chat with everyone up there.
As we got into Montgomery, Alabama, there was a traffic light that was blinded by a hill and was not noticable, as to how far up the road it was. There were no signs giving distance, etc, only one sign off the side of the road with a picture of a red light, no distancing, etc.
As we approached the light, it was red, with no way to stop a silver eagle bus going 55 mph. We ran the light, hitting a 28 ton pea gravel truck, loaded with gravel. There were 4 fatalities. I am the only singer that survived that tragic accident. It seemed like an eternity before the paramedics got there, but it was just minutes. I remember talking with the driver of the truck we hit and talking with the paramedics. Once they removed me from the wreck, I lost conciousness. Once they got me to the ER, I regained conciousness and was able to talk to the nurses and doctor.
I was told I had a ruptured spleen and would need emergency surgery for removal. Once they put me to sleep, and after the surgery, I was in an induced coma for 3 1/2 months. In December, my condition was still very critical and they had to go back in to do exporatory, as I was hemmhoraging internally. They did exploratory and found problems with my pancreas. During the next little while, my condition was frail, but I was surviving.
In the latter part of December, they began to allow me to come out of the coma. I realized the extent of my injuries at that point, but I didn't seem to have any fear or dread. I just seemed to be able to handle what was one of the worst times of my life.
I found out that my lungs had been shattered and deflated, my left hip was crushed, my right elbow was crushed, my hands were broken up and deformed, and many more injuries. They told me there were not hardly any bones that weren't broken in my body.
I spent several months recouperating and finally after many ups and downs, in the latter part of January, was moved to Dothan, Alabama. On the 1st of February, I was moved to Heathsouth Rehab to continue rehab and recovery.
On February 14th, Valentines Day and my husband's birthday, I was taken home. I spent another several months going to outpatient rehab. Little by little, I have been able to regain some of my life. I will never be the same, but God has blessed me to be able to sing once again, when they said I would never sing again. He has also taken me out of a wheelchair, when they said I would never walk unassisted again.
I still have problems and still have to recognize my limitations, but God has seen me this far and he will continue to carry me on.
When you feel like things will never change and your life is on a downhill spiral, just remember that if he can touch me like he did, he'll take care of your situation.
