She moved to the Charlotte area from Augusta, Georgia in the summer of 2003. Leaving good friends and much-loved music venues behind (e.g. The Soul Bar), she was looking for a change to help fuel her songwriting passion, which she had largely kept to herself. She chose Charlotte because many of her favorite singer-songwriters played regularly at great area venues such as The Evening Muse, The Neighborhood Theatre, and The Sylvia Theater. She joined the local chapter of the Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI, NSAI Charlotte) and met many supportive and talented songwriters of various genres (Steve Simpson, Alan Barrington, Herschel Lee Brown, Tom Eure and Angelo Melendez are just a few). In 2005, romance and music collided when she met her future writing partner and boyfriend at a Darrell Scott show. She and David Holtzclaw, a local singer-songwriter and guitarist, hit it off immediately and have been playing and writing together ever since.
What Question can I ask to empower myself and others? What new thought can I notice now to add to my creativity? How can I improve the experience of those I encounter today? What can I do to facilitate your Gift?

Hey Mer. I love the new photos. You look so beautiful!!! I checked out your new website, and am looking forward to seeing it when it's finished. It's really great! We are coming out early on September 19th because we want to hear you guys live. Tell Dave that we'll come see the Detour band at the late show at Town Tavern as soon as the smoking ban kicks in at the beginning of the year. I'm too allergic to be there. Thank you for linking our site to yours. You are so sweet. Have a great weekend!
